Carano is the first American female to win a Muay Thai championship in Thailand, the first (w/ Leiticia Pestova) to fight in a Nevada State Athletic Commission sanctioned MMA women's bout and the first to fight (w/ Elaina Maxwell) in a Strikeforce MMA female bout.

Although Carano is one of the most hyped fighters the MMA world has ever produced, her critics are quick to point out that most of the hype around Carano is not generated by her fighting, but by her sexy image.

Carano: "You know, I kind of live in my own world anyway. I'm very good at keeping a good head about me and really looking at things for what they are. I know who I am and where I am at in my career. I don't listen to what everybody says about me I just kind of know who I am and keep my head about me. I think that's one reason why people might like me. "
